An opportunity to become an expert stargazer
Published: Sat, 03/31/18
For the past five years, I’ve offered an annual online course for those who wish to get a little more serious about astronomy.
Called 'Fundamentals of Stargazing', the course is perfect for beginners or for more experienced stargazers who’ve been away from the night sky for awhile and need a refresher. It’s for stargazers in the northern AND southern hemispheres.
It’s the course I wish was available when I took up astronomy again, after a long break, more than a decade ago.
I usually work with about a hundred new students each year. I’ve got my hands nearly full this year, so I was planning on skipping the course in 2018. But to be fair, I need to give recent subscribers to Cosmic Pursuits access to this opportunity, and many have been asking about it. So I’m opening the course to a limited number of new students in 2018, and only for one week. Then it closes again until next year.

'Fundamentals of Stargazing' breaks down the basics of backyard astronomy into easy-to-understand pieces each month.
It takes you on detailed night sky tours throughout the year.
It helps you choose and use the best binoculars, telescopes, and accessories for your personal situation.
And it gives you little glimpses of the science of stargazing to help you understand how things work in the night sky.
The program also shows you how to find and enjoy hundreds of beautiful and astounding sights that you will remember for the rest of your life.
Here’s what one recent student of the course said:
“‘Fundamentals of Stargazing’ is well designed and assembled with heaps of information for the beginner, and it has enough stimulating challenges to hook you into becoming a more adventurous and informed stargazer. The most valuable aspect was having someone available and prepared to answer any question. This has been a most worthwhile and enriching experience for me.”
If you're at a point in your life where understanding and meaning are paramount, and you're in a position to devote a little time to studying the night sky, then I urge you to learn more about the course at the link below...

It’s available to new students until Sunday, April 8, 2018. Then it closes for the year.
