The best comet of the year has arrived in our skies, primed for evening viewing from now through the the end of the month and into 2019. Comet Wirtanen is not a blazingly bright comet, but it's easily visible with a pair of binoculars and may also become bright enough to see without optics in darker sky. And it will appear large, as large as the full Moon, because it's
making a close approach to Earth. In fact, Comet Wirtanen this month is making the 10th-closest approach of ANY comet in modern times.
